Last weeks beaten Challenge Cup finalists were on the road to Perpignan to take on a Catalans Dragons side with only a mathematical chance of making the play-offs.

With Hull FC and Wigan Warriora both slipping up earlier in the round, a win for the Wolves would see them top of Super League at the end of the round with three more games to play and would be some recompense for last weeks disappointment.

The Wolves were without several key players after last weeks brutal Wembley game including; Westerman, Sandow, Gidley and Westwood.

Warrington got the perfect start on seven minutes when Declan Patton was on hand to take a pass from Toby King, who had brushed off three Dragons tacklers, to walk over under the sticks. Patton added the extras from in front of the uprights.

Julian Bousquet was held up over the line on thirteen but the Dragons couldn't use their possession close to the line.

On eighteen a last tackle Myler kick through was caught, goalkeeper style, by Stefan Ratchford and as he regained his feet he fed Kevin Penny who went ninety metres to score under the posts. Patton added the extra two for 12-0.

On thirty-one Eloi Pelissier was held up over the line and three minutes later Remi Casty jD the ball stolen, one on one, with the line begging, but again the Wolves defence held firm and repelled all of the Dragons efforts.

Two minutes from the interval and Declan Patton got his second, a one hundred metre team try involving Penny, Ratchford and King who put the Wolves' scrum half through a gap to score under the sticks. He added the extras for an 18-0 half time lead.

Four minutes into the second half and the Dragons got on the scoreboard when Vincent Duport took a Richie Myler pass ten from the line and bust through the Wolves defence to dive over the line. Tony Gigot added the extra two, a lifeline for the home side.

When Richie Myler went through five Wolves tacklers to score against his former employers he allowed Gigot to kick the extra two and the Dragons were right back in the game as the Wolves were looking increasingly jaded.

A late tackle on Ryan Bailey gifted Patton an easy two point penalty to restore some breathing space at 20-12.

On sixty-six Ryan Atkins spilled the ball ten metres fm his own line and Ben Garcia picked up the lose ball with the line open in front of him for a walk-in try. Gigot kicked the extra two to narrow the Wolves lead to just two points.

A Gigot 40-20 put the Dragons straight back in possession ten from the Wolves line and two plays later interference at the play the ball gave Gigot the kick to square the scores at 20-20 with nine minutes on the clock.

On seventy-three a speculative Gigot high kick was spilled by Penny and as it bounced into goal Richie Myler appeared to ground the ball with his finger tips. The video referee ruled out the try but indicated a Dragons penalty and Gigot slotted it between the uprights to give the home side the lead for the first time in the game.

With three minutes left on the clock Ben Currie was on the end of an expansive passing move to go past the last defender and improve the angle for Patton to kick the conversion and edge the Wolves into a four point lead and win at 26-22.

This last gasp win sees the Wolves up into top spot in Super League and with games against Widnes, Wigan with a final round game against Hull FC, the Minor Premiership is Warrington's to lose. It was a brave second half comeback from the Dragons but the Wolves held their nerve and came from behind to grab the points.

A quality spectacle with plenty of big hits, plenty of drama and plenty of points.
