| Shifty :poplar cats alive:
If what we've heard is true re Olly Russell being offloaded I suspect the same fate might happen to Myles Lawford. So we need a competent replacement and Jack Sinfield comes with a good pedigree. His only problem is always being known as Sir Kev's lad and that brings. But moving to Wakefield might be beneficial and hopefully develop further under DP's coaching. I'm prepared to give him a chance, as has been said we have got our recruitment spot on over the last 2 years. Regarding Tanginoa is he quota exempt having played in Super League over 5 years, or didn't they bring that rule in ?
Tbh I'd forgotten all about Myles. He's had no luck while he's been here, but saying that, would he have made much difference in the halves when we needed backup? I'm not sure he would have, but again, he's young and will find a home if we did let him go with the number of teams wanting British players, same with Russell. Coming from a perspective of Sinfield being the backup half next season to Trueman and Lino, he's already a better player than our back-ups now imo and definitely has a higher ceiling, so just from that perspective, it's probably a better signing than when I first heard it. As mentioned, maybe getting out from under his dad's shadow at Leeds will do him the world of good. As Khlav mentioned, it's gonna be after next season when we decide what to do with Lino and we'll see how many games Trueman plays, then we can decide what to do with quota players & spaces. As for Tanginoa, I don't think that rule came in because he's quota for Hull KR. Keep hearing Tanginoa is coming to us but think it is just a silly rumour .

As per my original post, I'm very doubtful about this one...I said the same about Olly Russell's signing this time last year....if we are aiming to be top 4 next year then I think this is a very mediocre signing (although I do hope he proves me wrong !!) First interview with him here... JACK SINFIELD | Joins Wakefield

| After reflecting on everything, I agree with HV. Jack hasn't been brought in as next year's starter or a marquee signing but the potential in say 18 months is he could be exactly that sort of player, given development and game time. He's only 21 and has come through a very good system. He's been a standout player at every age group he's represented. He is the type of player we don't often have at Trinity; players like him usually move elsewhere to continue their development. It’s clear that he has goals and doesn’t want to be stuck waiting for Conor to get injured at Leeds. When he played in the reserves this year, he appeared to be a level above the other players on the field. If he gets anywhere near where people think he should, we'll have made a top signing, especially as Lino comes to the end of his contract, and we'd be looking for someone to fill his boots.
I'm not sure what Alegend is talking about when he claims we've only signed young players for development, while Hull, Warrington, and Catalans are bringing in all these impressive talents. Didn't Catalans, Wire & Hull do the same before the start of this last season? And 2 of those finished 5 wins behind us, plus Wire's big signing has given back word and isn't moving in Pangai Jr, who tbh I think they've swirved a bullet there.
Firstly, we've only signed two young players: Sinfield and 18-year-old Kian McGann from Saints. Both are highly rated British halfbacks who are valuable assets in our sport. I don't really understand the issue with supporting talented young British players and bringing them to Trinity for development; it's something people have been wanting for years, especially as it is not as if we haven't signed a few bits of absolute quality to add to a team that finished 6th, while missing the 2nd most players from injury in SL.
Secondly, our three main signings are NRL players, including a NRL Grand Final winner this year in Smoothy, and a former Dally M winner in Jazz, who can say that. We've also secured a top young prop, Tray Lolesio, from the Queensland Cup. If he performs anything like Caleb, Vagana, or Rodwell, we should have a great addition. DP has compared him to an Amone-like prop, noting his powerful leg drive, and he is expected to make a significant impact. Plus, we've added a bit of extra squad depth to our middles and brought in Jordan Williams from Featherstone, a big unit that will give extra time for Lingard to progress. He's 28 and played SL for London with Rourke and didn't look out of place, so he adds that depth. Nearly forgot, we also signed Will Tate from Cas, who will provide extra cover at wing/centre behind Tom, Walmsley, Myers, Hall, Pratt, etc he's a decent player, he just needs to stay fit. He seems to have been brought in because we've let Neil Tchamambe go on a year-long loan to London, which will do him the world of good playing against men in the Champ each week at 20.

Spot on with this post, summed up perfectly for me.
