Does not surprise me. Very similar to Murrell. Both got good kicking games but Murrell is better overall. Should free up some space to bring in a new player.
He doesn't play at the line enough for my liking ( fitting in with modern day ball players, not my idea of how to hit a ball as a running forward btw ) as i've noticed prior to him arriving at Fax. I noticed in the friendly at Batley pre-season he got bumped off a number of 1st up tackles when we were defending. Although it does currently leave us short handed he'll hopefully get more gametime at Batley and find some form for if & when he returns to us. Always been a decent kicker out of hand but i guess Johnston's pace is his golden ticket, that might be an indicator how we aim to attack this season's games/opponents, i certainly hope so. I'd like to see Johnston jumping in at dummy half midfield on dry-firm pitches and get behind tiring defences and dance round static full backs too, his pace & footwork is far superior to anything else we've got in that area. The breaks i've seen him make so far have generally by receiving the ball deep & getting onto the outside of defenders' outside shoulder, that might be the difference in styles between himself & Simon Brown.
New signings ???? I thought we were skint ????? Hahaha get Tommy signed up if there's any £££££ available.
