| Steve Ganson obviously thought that there was something wrong with the Ablett tackle as he put it on report.
What should happen is this.
If the player is put on report then it should be an automatic 10 minute sin bin. In that period the match commissioner and / or video referee reviews the incident.
If they decide that it warrants a sending off then after the ten minute period the player is shown a red card and is sent off for the remainder of the match.
If they are unsure or decide it is not worthy of a sending off then the player is free to return after the ten minutes have elapsed.
The match review panel, would still review the incident on Monday as normal.
It's so simple, can anyone see any reasons why it wouldn't work.

| Players can be put on report when the referee doesn't see the incident at all, so it's a non-starter.

If the video ref decides there was nothing untoward do the player's team then get to play ten minutes with fourteen men? Or does the offending player get a ten minute run out on his own after the game? He could see how many penalties he could kick from various positions in that period.

| No, we only have the video ref at two games a week. That's too much of an imbalance to me.

| A really good idea which would work (IMHO) .. It punishes the infringment on the field of play in real time. If it proves no infringment occurred then all well and good, (all things being equal and all that).

He comes back on after ten minutes. It's a bit like saying what happens if a player gets sent off and is found not guilty.
The referee only puts it on report if he thinks there has been an incident.
To Don Brennan.
There are video cameras at all games, coaches watch instant replays on their laptops.

So how do they review the incidents at all games on a Monday morning at present?
And they make a judgement on those.
