I know that the salary cap was brought in to supposedly protect clubs from overstretching themselves and going bust, but clubs in the Championship are struggling anyway, Oldham/Whitehaven. It is only going to be a matter of a few years before the Championship is no more. What on earth is there to play for and how do teams exist on 200-400 crowds. We play for a cup and then a team with a better business plan and investor who finish 5th get promoted!! It is absolute cr4p. I would rather that the salary cap was done away with and teams with ambition were allowed to fulfil their ambitions. Championship teams on a £400K salary cap have no way of attracting the best players and as a result their crowds go down and as a result they will go bust anyway.



Businesses aren't restricted by how much they can spend so why should RL clubs be.Championship clubs should be able to attract investors and attract more supporters and fulfil their dream. I would rather go into oblivion fighting than let SL lay down the rules for our future extinction.



Just watched HKR v Hull, why are we and other clubs, Fev, Fax, Barrow, etc... stopped from living this dream because we are only allowed so much money.With no salary cap we can have a go and if we go bust so what we are heading into an abyss anyway.



It is about time that RL was run by tough ex-RL players and not by some wimpy ex-tennis player.You have to be politically correct these days, like Steve O'Connor, or you get your fingers rapped and you dont get into SL. 'living this dream' ended when they brought in the licensing system, unless you've never had a professional RL team in your town BEFORE, and it's nowhere near the M62. ( apart from Widnes - eventually)

They haven't finished top of the second division so don't deserve to be in the top flight. None of that is the RFL's fault.

To be fair to the Reds, we have been in SL more than NFP/NL1 during the SL era and it on a few year since we made the SL playoffs.



My post above wasn't trying to bad-mouth Leigh, just trying to remind one or two of the RFL-haters that it's not all their fault that you aren't in SL.



FWIW I meant what I said about wanting to be in SL - I've been FAR more interested in Leigh/the Championship this year than I have in Salford/SL.



Still, that doesn't stop me from watching, and thoroughly enjoying, SL matches on SKY, the Challenge Cup, etc (and there's nowt that the RFL can do about that - proper RL fans will always watch TGG, regardless of how badly run it is).

Just as pretending that the new stadium would be built at the last franchise apps was a nice move. A very effective con and the mark (The RFL) fell for it. Love to know how they are affording all these players on an average of around 4000.

More likely Liverpool Leopards, given the RFL insistence on a presence in Manchester. (i.e. Salford)

Any SL fan will complain about the franchise system if they are given the boot to make way for Widnes or whoever......... lets listen to them when it happens - on 8 months roughly till 1 gets the boot.
