| Not good for keighran but two months will hopefully fly by. I’m sure Peet said fields was taken off as he felt his hamstring was tight and they didn’t want to risk it

| At least it’s Jai’s other leg, small mercy’s I know. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is out as long as AK though.

| I think Field is someone they will manage very carefully and not want to take any risks with. We've seen at the start of the season that he's been a much more dangerous running threat than last season when he was obviously managing his hamstring.
Watching the documentary on last season Field was almost always in the background on the bike which I guess was all about keeping the muscles warmed up. I'd rather they keep him off longer so he's close to 100% than operating around 60-70 even though he was still an excellent link player.

The problem is that he is a marquee player and we need to get full value out of him.

| In regards Marquee players heard on a podcast that SL clubs change them year on year to take advantage of the cap.
For example they may massively front load a contract for a year or 2 and declare them as marquee and then pay well under for the last 2 years removing them from the marquee status so in very simple terms if someone is on £1m 4 year contract they make £400k a year in year 1 and 2 and are marquee then £100k a year in year 3 and 4 and are not marquee.
I’ve also heard certain perks such as access to holidays/yachts etc are included in some cases too.

| Never been convinced by the "perks" that are offered.
In essence with the Marquee Rules there is no limit to the salary cap. A Marquee players could be paid £1m or £2m a year but would only cost their Marquee salary figure as far as the Cap goes. So if a club can play an almost unlimited amount why the need for "perks"?
The whole salary cap is now so discredited it really needs to be abolished.

It’s an Australian podcast but both presenters played and have good links to SL. The perks mentioned were around an owner with a private yacht and 3 players having it written into their contracts that they get access to said yacht for a certain amount of time per year. It was discussed as this would have a financial bearing on the cap in Australia. Free accommodation for SL players and cars etc it was suggested would also be subject to a financial value against the cap in the NRL but it isn’t in SL.
